Terms of Use
Last updated October 18, 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and KatoGen when you use katogen.ai. Please read them with our Acceptable Use Policy and Privacy Policy, which are part of them.
The short version
- You must be 18 or older to use KatoGen.
- We don't check your uploads. You're responsible for having the rights to every person, mark and piece of media you upload.
- Sexual content involving minors and intimate images of real people without their consent are banned. We remove reported intimate images within 48 hours of a valid request.
- We sign the files we generate for you with KatoGen's Content Credentials, which show they were made with AI, except where the Content Credentials section says otherwise.
- Runs cost credits. Failed, blocked and canceled runs give their credits back automatically. Top-up credits never expire; plan credits reset each month.
- Stripe handles payments. You can cancel a plan any time from Billing; it runs to the end of the period you paid for.
Who we are and these terms
KatoGen (“KatoGen”, “we”, “us”) runs the website and app at katogen.ai. The company that operates KatoGen, and its address, will be named here before launch.
You accept these terms when you tick the box at sign-up, or when you use KatoGen. If you use KatoGen for a business, you accept them for that business too, and you confirm you're allowed to.
Your account
- Age. You must be at least 18 years old.
- Signing in. We sign you in with a one-time link sent to your email address. There's no password, so keep your email account secure. Anyone who can open your email can sign in as you.
- One person. An account is for one person. Don't share it, sell it or sign in as someone else.
- Your activity. You're responsible for what happens in your account. Tell us at support@katogen.ai if you think someone else has used it.
What KatoGen does
KatoGen makes images, video and audio with AI models from other companies, through their APIs. It also keeps your library and projects, builds promo kits and public pages for events, releases and stylists, and shows a Community feed of work people choose to publish. The Privacy Policy names the providers.
- AI output can be wrong, strange or unlike what you asked for. Check it before you rely on it or share it.
- The model providers run their own content filters. A filter may block a run; when it does, you get the credits back.
- We add, change and remove models and features over time. A model may become unavailable if its provider changes or drops it.
Your uploads and your rights to them
We don't check your uploads. KatoGen doesn't review who or what is in the photos, video, audio and tracks you upload. Apart from the model providers' own content filters, nothing screens them before a run. That puts the responsibility on you. By uploading, you confirm that:
- you own what you upload, or have permission from whoever does (photos, artwork, music, tracks, video, logos);
- every identifiable person in it has agreed to how you're using their image or voice, including on a public page;
- you have the right to use any names, logos and trademarks in it; and
- using it on KatoGen, and the outputs you make from it, won't break any law or anyone else's rights.
You keep the rights you have in your uploads. You give us permission to store them, send them to the model providers and process them as needed to run KatoGen for you, and to show them where you choose to publish them.
What you make
- Ownership. As between you and KatoGen, and as far as the law allows, you own the images, video and audio you make, and we give you any rights we have in them. Some countries don't protect AI-made work with copyright, and other people can make similar outputs, so we can't promise yours are protected or unique.
- Your use. You may use your outputs for personal and commercial work, as long as you follow the law, these terms and any limits a model's provider places on its output. You're responsible for how you use and share them.
- Our permission. You let us store, process and show your outputs as needed to run KatoGen for you. When you publish something (to Community, or on an event, release or stylist page), you let us show it publicly on KatoGen, with the details the page shows, until you unpublish it or delete it.
- Deleting. When you delete a generation from your library, we delete its output files from our storage. The kit images and reels made from it belong to the event, release or stylist they were made for, and stay until you delete that.
Acceptable use
You must follow our Acceptable Use Policy. In short: no sexual content involving minors, ever; no intimate images of real people without their consent; no impersonation, harassment or illegal content; and no getting around our limits or the providers' filters. We may remove content and suspend accounts that break it.
Content Credentials (C2PA)
When a run finishes, we copy each image, video or audio file it made to our storage and sign it with KatoGen's C2PA manifest (Content Credentials), except where noted below. When the file has no manifest of its own, ours records that it was made with AI, which model made it, and that KatoGen signed it. When a provider already signed the file, we keep its manifest, which records how the file was made, and add ours on top as an edit: ours records that KatoGen signed it but doesn't name the model. Kit videos we assemble are signed too, and record what went into them.
These are stored without our manifest:
- files in a format C2PA can't carry. We sign JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, MP4, MOV, MP3 and WAV, so a file in any other format, such as WebM video, isn't signed;
- a file that already carries a manifest we can't read. We store it as it came rather than risk replacing the provider's manifest; and
- caption files and print PDFs. Kit images we draw your text onto may not carry a manifest of their own either; the AI art in them comes from a run, signed as described here.
Don't remove, alter or fake Content Credentials, and don't present AI output as a real photo or recording of real events.
Credits
Credits (✦) pay for runs. Images, video and audio draw on one balance, and the Generate button shows a run's price before you start. A run costs the same on every plan.
Two kinds of credits
- Plan credits come with a subscription. Each paid billing month sets them to your plan's monthly amount; unused plan credits don't carry over. Annual plans are billed once a year and get their credits each month.
- Top-up credits are one-time purchases. They never expire.
- Runs spend plan credits first, then top-up credits.
Credits back
- If a run fails, a content filter blocks it, or you cancel it while it's still waiting to start, its credits come back automatically, once, to the kind they came from. There's nothing to claim.
- If your plan credits were reset between the run and the refund (a new month began), the plan-credit part isn't returned: those credits ended with their month. Top-up credits always come back.
- Some models are priced by what a run actually uses. For those we take an estimate when you start, and give back the difference when the final price is lower. If the run used more than the estimate, you don't pay the extra: we never charge more than we took at the start. The plan-credit part of a difference follows the same rule as a refund after a new month began.
What credits aren't
Credits aren't money. They have no cash value, can't be transferred, sold or exchanged, and aren't refundable except as these terms say. We may correct credits added by mistake, or obtained by fraud or a reversed payment.
Plans, payments and refunds
- Stripe. Stripe processes our payments through its checkout and billing portal. We never see your full card number. Prices are set in US dollars.
- Renewal. Plans renew automatically, monthly or yearly, until you cancel. Each renewal is charged to your payment method on file.
- Cancelling. Cancel any time from Billing (Manage billing opens Stripe's portal). Your plan and its credits stay until the end of the period you've paid for. Then your account moves to Free, its remaining plan credits end, and your top-up credits stay.
- Changing plans. A change you make in the portal takes effect at your next renewal: you keep your current plan's credits and limits until then, and the new plan's price and credits start with the next invoice. Switching from monthly to annual is the exception: it starts a new yearly period and bills the year straight away, without credit for the rest of the month.
- Refunds. Payments are non-refundable, except where the law requires a refund or we choose to give one.
- Refunded and disputed top-ups. If a top-up payment is refunded or charged back, in full or in part, we remove the same share of the credits it added (rounded up), from your top-up credits only, never taking them below zero. Your plan credits aren't touched.
- Refunded and disputed plan payments. If the payment for your current plan period is refunded in full or charged back, your plan credits are set to zero. A partial refund of a plan payment, or a refund of an earlier period's payment, doesn't change your credits, and your top-up credits stay either way.
- Dispute inquiries. When your bank only asks about a payment (an inquiry, not a chargeback), nothing changes in your account.
- Price changes. We may change plan and top-up prices. A new plan price applies from your next renewal after we've told you about it, and you can cancel before then. Run prices can change too; the Generate button always shows the current one.
- Try-ons. A client's try-on on a stylist's page is charged to the stylist's credits, within the monthly try-on budget the stylist sets.
Reports, takedowns and copyright
Anyone can report content on KatoGen at katogen.ai/report, signed in or not. Under the TAKE IT DOWN Act, we remove an intimate image or video of a person shared without their consent within 48 hours of a valid request, and we aim to handle every other report within 48 hours too. The Acceptable Use Policy explains what a report needs and what happens next.
Copyright
If you believe something on KatoGen infringes your copyright, report it as “My copyrighted work”. Include the link, a description of your work, your name and email, a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized and that your notice is accurate, a statement that you own the rights or may act for the owner, and your signature (typing your full name counts).
If your content was removed after a copyright report and you believe that was a mistake, email support@katogen.ai with the link, why you believe it was removed in error, and your name and contact details. We close the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe. Our designated agent for copyright notices will be named here before launch.
Suspending or closing an account
- You can stop using KatoGen at any time. To close your account and delete its data, email support@katogen.ai from the address you sign in with. Cancel any paid plan first.
- We may remove content, suspend or close an account, or refuse service if you break these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, if the law requires it, or to protect people or KatoGen. Where it's safe and lawful, we'll tell you why.
- If we close your account for breaking these terms, its credits end with it.
Disclaimers
KatoGen is provided “as is” and “as available”. As far as the law allows, we make no promises that it will always be available, free of errors, or produce any particular result, and we disclaim implied warranties such as merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be limited.
Limits on liability
As far as the law allows, KatoGen isn't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost profits, data or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim about KatoGen is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and US$100. These limits don't apply where the law doesn't allow them, such as for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Your responsibility for claims
If someone makes a claim against KatoGen because of what you uploaded, made, published or did on KatoGen in breach of these terms or the law, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it, including legal fees, as far as the law allows.
Governing law and disputes
The law that governs these terms, and where disputes are heard, will be set here before launch. Until then, please contact us first at support@katogen.ai so we can try to sort out any problem directly.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we'll tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using KatoGen after that, the new terms apply. The date at the top shows the latest version.
